AMETHYST DECEIVERS, 2021 - ongoing

AMETHYST DECEIVERS* (Formerly known as The Death Trumpets) is a performance collective who aims to radically “fungify” their works. They seek out to make their performance material with fungi and informed by fungi. Appearing as other-worldly fungi/human hybrids, AMETHYST DECEIVERS plays on self-invented fungi instruments. They also electronically sample live (and prerecorded) “fungi vocalizations” in cyclical rituals inspired by four-stage fungi life cycles: spore, germ, hypha, and mature mycelium.

AMETHYST DECEIVERS have previously performed at Kunsthal Charlottenborg and Medical Museion, between basement, gallery space, pharmacy garden, and anatomical theater.
